So your team did not make it to Indianapolis, nor did you win Bud Lights’ Hotel Correspondent sweepstakes. Don’t sweat it. Bud Light is still offering to throw an epic tailgate party for you and your friends in your home town to watch the Super Bowl.
The brand along with their agency, Cannonball, have developed an AR app that can be downloaded for iphone 3Gs and newer owners. Once downloaded, Bud Light entices consumers to interact with primary BL/NFL packaging graphics. After a successful AR match, consumers watch the Bud Light/Super Bowl logo transform into a football stadium where all 32 NFL team helmets are located. Fans simply choose their favorite team along with entering their city. It’s that simple. Consumers have until February 1st to enter the sweepstakes. Due to state regulations, party elements and details may vary.

Bud Light is flexing their muscle and using every opportunity to promote their new sponsorship with the NFL. No longer does the brand have to use “Bud Bowl” on all their marketing collateral. Bud Light also recognizes the opportunity to make connections with consumers using a mobile device. By engaging consumers in their digital world, Bud Light strives to focus on the fans 1st and increase their favorbility liking vs. other premium light beers.
Bud Light might not be the chosen beer of every consumer, however, the message it sends to everyone is that a party is not a party without Bud Light. The brand has positioned itself as the catalyst that brings friends together and provides the good times.
